monkey skull [belonged to one of the hunter's preys] print, mat, decorated frame pyrograph decoration

A hunter comes out of the forest at the back of the huts. He carries a dead monkey over the shoulder, like a blood-stained stole. An arrow sticks out of her throat. Monkey meat, roasted or smoked, is a local delicacy. The man asks me if I want to buy it, but I refuse. “Not even the head?” he insists. “The brain is the best part”. I refuse again. “Don’t you have any soap? It’s been months since we had any soap here”. I give him two hotel soaps. “Thank you, white man, thank you, papa. Here, look.” With two hits of his machete cuts the head of the monkey. A gush of dead and black blood falls on the ground. “It’s yours, papa”.
