chilled champagne

Champagne at the right temperature, chilled, is a must in every get-together. Say no to floating and melting ice cubes, can't you be more original? Dig out of the trunk that silver bowl your grandpa won at a regatta off the Newport shore in the Teens, and then mix:

• red rose petals
• mauve iris petals
• yellow tuberose petals
• blue forget-me-nots flowers
• mineral water, no gas
• ice cubes

Stir gently, place the champagne in the middle and freeze.
